About Laser Dermatology

Lasers are commonly used to treat benign vascular and pigmented lesions and skin disorders such as thread veins, birthmarks port-wine stains and haemangiomas as well as sun damage, pregnancy and medication.

Laser therapy is continually revolutionising the dermatology field, successfully treating many skin conditions including, but not limited to:

  • Angiomas / haemangiomas
  • Facial thread veins
  • Freckles
  • Moles
  • Pigmentation
  • Sun spots
  • Scars
  • Skin tags
  • Seborrheic Keratosis
  • Warts
  • Fungal Nail Infections
A laser pre-treatment assessment will be required before any laser treatment can be carried out.

How does it work?

Laser light can be accurately focused into small spots with very high energy.

Vascular and pigmented skin lesions strongly absorb visible light from the Laser light energy. The light energy is absorbed by water in the skin cells, causing a controlled trauma to the treatment area whereby the skin will heal and regenerate healthy skin cells.

The targeted cells are destroyed with no harm to the surrounding tissue. Short pulses reduce the amount that the damaged cells are heated, reducing thermal injury and prolonged side effects and down time.
